A Farewell to the Poskodsstiftelse Project Smålandstriennalen

We're now presenting the five projects selected for further development within the framework of Smålandstriennalen’s work-in-progress open call.

After inspiring dialogue meetings in Bodafors, on Öland, and in Värnamo, we continue to build community, networks, and ideas in preparation for the Småland Triennial 2026. This time, we meet in the heart of Småland – at Virserum Art Hall – on Monday, May 26.

We continue with the dialogue meetings! First Bodafors, then Öland (May 9), and now at Vandalorum in Värnamo on May 23. We will meet, be inspired, and converse with artists and other cultural workers in our work towards the next triennial; 2026.

To artists working in Småland

We are overwhelmed and excited by the great interest in our meeting on March 11, 2025, at Kulturgatan in Bodafors! All spots are now filled, and registration is therefore closed. But!

During the Contemporary Art Days 2024 in Jönköping and Värnamo, the Småland Biennial and Konstfrämjandet Småland organized a unique performance program in and around Naturum Store Mosse on October 14.

In June 2024, the triennial announced an Open Call aimed at artists active in Småland, focusing on site-specific and public projects, exhibitions, and residencies. Particularly interesting were projects that were outward-facing and targeted the local community.

From June to September, member organizations of Konstfrämjandet Småland organized several workshops and camps for children and young people, focusing on creative creation and artistic techniques.

The exhibition I benkrossens ljus highlights the intangible, site-specific cultural heritage in Algutsboda, a place in the heart of Småland's Glass Kingdom.

Helena Wikestam, Sofia Sundberg, and Linda Bergman showcase artworks in a pop-up art gallery.

The work Bruksskogens Livscykel has become a publication.

Be a farmer for a day is a site-specific performance that explores the relationship between people and landscape. When people develop a love for the land, they change internally. This love motivates and energizes them to take actions such as defending, protecting, and celebrating the natural world.

To move our thoughts back 1.2 billion years in time does something to us. In this dizzying timespan, Julia Sandwall, Jan Carleklev, and Yohanna Eek Björnulfson take their starting point.

The Nature Conservation Area Marhult continues with a deepening anthology based on the art project. As a conclusion to a text and image production period in the summer of 2024, the results will be presented in a staged reading/viewing "Wasteshop."

Welcome to the Swedish premiere of the short film ‘Strandudden’. The film is about the construction of a gated community in Nissafors in Småland and addresses themes such as trust and distrust, belonging and place.

Apostasy & A Tentative Quest for the Identical, by Anne Hamrin Simonsson and Johanna Karlin.

The work The Path by Magnus Wassborg is placed in urban settings and along hiking trails in various locations in Småland.

The theater school in Siggalycke invites you to an open performance where the school will showcase what they have been working on during the week. Free entry, refreshments, and discussions!

Join us for a unique art experience where we together explore the animal paths through the landscape of Slottsalvaret, Öland.

The artist Rami Khoury is having a production residency at The Mirror Institutions' farm in Öland during July-August, where he is executing a local production.

An art project that follows the tracks of animals, a film about a canceled gated community, futuristic sound sculptures, exhibitions, and workshops - Konstfrämjandet Småland continues to explore and map the Småland art landscape with a view towards the Småland Biennale 2026.

Småland Triennial and Konstfrämjandet Småland are currently working in their development years leading up to the next triennial in 2026. And thanks to funding from Postkodsstiftelsen, a series of activities will take place this summer, through our member organizations, for children and young people in different locations in Småland.

Konstfrämjandet Småland is a nonprofit organization without a formal seat.

On Saturday, September 23rd at 2 PM, the second of two screenings of David Torstensson's essay film Att ha rätt will take place at Biograf Fokus in Jönköping. In connection with the screening, Per Hasselberg will lead a subsequent conversation with David Torstensson, religious scholar Peter Carlsson, and author Elisabeth Hjort. The film is approximately 35 minutes long, followed by a one-hour discussion.

The Nature Culture Festival Wastestock presents art, film, performance, and music in Dädesjö local heritage park.

Warmly welcome to the witch school with artist Kerstin Björk. Both children, adults, witches, and non-magicians are cordially invited. At the witch school, we will use mugwort as material and guide to create amulets, broomsticks, and other magical items. We will also incorporate embroidery, textile, sticks, and other natural materials.

The Småland Biennial and the feminist map invite you to Elin Wägner's Lilla Björka in the village of Berg, located 30 kilometers north of Växjö. An exciting day with discussions about Elin Wägner.

About grief, magic, and humor is a project exhibition at Växjö Art Hall featuring artists Ingela Johansson and Elin Sundström, who delve into the subject of care through questions about humor, grief, and art in healthcare environments. In their respective practices, the artists work situationally and in close dialogue with the place, with an interest in issues of care and narratives.

In this performance lecture, philosopher Liam Sprod will use the stones, landscape, and history of Vånekik in Oskarshamn Municipality to explore ideas related to geology, deep time, and art historical events. The presentation will be conducted in English.

Can a new perspective on how we live along the coast make it easier to address the issues of flooding and rising seas? Art is now set to engage citizens in this matter. The research project COALA explores how flexible land use can be a strategy for managing these long-term effects. The Konstkiosk is part of the project where the role of art and architecture in society is highlighted.
