Över gränsen – Ett tillfälligt rum

Between 2025 and 2026, the Japanese artist Takako Takeuchi visited places in Småland's nature where she experienced a sense of holiness or special presence.
In these places, she created temporary installations with shide – a symbolic element in Shintoism – and documented them through film.
The recorded images, from summer to winter, quietly depict the boundary between nature and man, between the visible and the invisible.

The music was created in collaboration with Mattias Hållsten, musician and practitioner of the traditional Japanese instrument sho.
Together with specially composed music, the work is presented as an 8-minute video installation.

The work was developed within the framework of the Småland Triennial's “Open Call for exploratory work” 2025, where the project was selected for further development ahead of the triennial in 2026.
