Branislav Nikolić

(Šabac, Serbien)

Branislav Nikolić is an artist whose work explores the social dimension of sculpture through the use of recycled materials. Acting as an “archaeologist” of contemporary society, he collects discarded wooden elements—such as window frames, doors, and panels—and transforms them into layered reliefs that reflect the environments they come from.

In his Maps series, Nikolić uses geographic contours taken from Google Maps and recreates them as wooden reliefs, often using materials found in the very locations depicted. These works connect personal geography, memory, and the social context embedded in everyday materials.
